A man was arrested after allegedly trying to open a plane door on a flight packed with holidaymakers last month, the Liverpool Echo reports. Police were waiting for 21-year-old Robert Montgomery when the plane touched down after a flight from Bulgaria to Luton Airport on October 18. Nobody is thought to have been injured during the incident but many passengers were reported to have been left terrified.
Mr Montgomery, from Kilburn Avenue, Bebington, was travelling with Hungarian Airline Wizz Air on the 3½ hour flight back to the UK. He was arrested by Bedfordshire police after the plane arrived at Luton airport. An investigation was carried out into reports he was drunk and attempted to force the plane door mid-flight on October 18. He is to appear at Luton crown court on November 14 charged with being drunk aboard an aircraft.
