Roadworks from Monday until Spring 2010
09.09.09
Work to renovate the M1 spur’s bridge over Newlands Road, near Luton Airport, will start on Monday 14 September. The bridge parapets at the edges of the road will be replaced, and also some drainage and resurfacing work will be carried out. Drivers using the M1 spur, especially those travelling to the airport, have been advised to allow extra time for their journeys whilst the work is in progress.
During the works the M1 spur between junctions 10 and 10A will have only one lane open in each direction 24 hours a day, seven days a week until it is completed in spring 2010. A 40 mph speed limit will also be in force between junctions 10 and 10A.
The work will also require overnight closures of Newlands Road where it goes under the M1. A local signed diversion route will be in place, and this will affect users of the popular Luton Airparks airport car park, with passengers using this facility potentially hit with two sets of delays.
