Stelios to call shareholders meeting
13.07.10
easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou is reported to be planning to call for a special meeting of shareholders this week. It is the latest move in his bid to restrict the airline's expansion and get it to pay a dividend to shareholders.
Sir Stelios, who together with his brother and sister are easyJet's biggest shareholders with around 38% of the shares, has clashed with the board over the past two years because of his determination to restrain the airline’s growth and force it to pay regular dividends.
The request for an extraordinary meeting is expected to be made today.
