Flightpath consultation ends this week
15.06.08
The public consultation on proposals to redraw aircraft flightpaths over the South East, including for flights in to Stansted, London City, Heathrow and Luton Airport, ends this week. The 17-week consultation will close on Thursday (June 19); anyone who wants to register their views must do so by then.
It is the biggest-ever consultation by NATS, the air traffic control company, on changes that represent the first fundamental overhaul in several decades for the airspace. The proposed changes are designed to reduce delays whilst maintaining safety and improving environmental performance.
After the end of the consultation, all feedback will be submitted to the CAA, which will decide whether the proposed changes can go ahead. If approved, they would not become operational before spring 2009.
So far NATS has received 5000 consultation responses. For more information and to give feedback online, visit www.nats.co.uk/TCNconsultation.
