A Canadian woman who tried to smuggle 7.5kg of heroin in to the UK via Luton Airport has been jailed for 8 years. The drugs, with an estimated street value of £367,000, were found concealed in Amina Mahmood's two suitcases and had also been sewn into the lining of her rucksack when she arrived at Luton on May 16 this year on a flight from Istanbul.
On Thursday Ms Mahmood, 54, of Ville St Laurent, Quebec, received the jail sentence at Birmingham Crown Court after she pleaded guilty last month to charges relating to importing drugs.
