easyJet delay plane order

Luton Airport based airline easyJet has announced that it will delay the purchase of four Airbus A320 planes, in response to the current uncertain economic conditions in the aviation industry.
The airline, which currently operates 166 planes from 20 bases across Europe, revealed that it has delayed the planned 2010 acquisition of four Airbus A320 family jets. This could also have an effect on the delivery of a further 109 planes expected over the next four years.
The Airbus plane order form part of easyJet's strategy of updating its fleet to achieve maximum efficiency, which will also bring down transport costs and aviation taxes. easyJet’s chief executive, Andy Harrison, said earlier this week: ‘Unlike many of our competitors, our Airbus contract provides us with a flexible approach to fleet growth. We intend to make full use of this in such uncertain economic conditions.’
