Wizz Air has celebrated the sixth anniversary of its flights at Luton Airport. It launched its first service from Luton to Katowice in Poland six years ago yesterday. Today it is one of the largest budget airlines in Central and Eastern Europe, carrying more than 8 million passengers each year, and it recently announced new routes to Split and Dubrovnik from Luton, bringing its routes at the hub to 19.
As well as celebrating 6 years of operation, Wizz Air can also boast carrying 6 million passengers from the airport. A spokesman for the airport said, ‘We are delighted that Wizz has chosen Luton to be part of their success story. We look forward to celebrating many more milestones together in the future’.
