Luton Airport train platforms extended
25.12.08
The platform extensions for the Thameslink Programme have been completed at Luton Airport Parkway station. The station is the first to have its platforms lengthened on the route. All four platforms have been extended by 80 metres to accommodate 12-car trains.
The scheme will see more than 4km of platforms lengthened along the Thameslink cross-London route and support a 50% increase in capacity through running longer trains and more services during the morning and evening peaks. This will be realised as new trains are introduced between 2012 and 2015.
