easyJet says it has all of its passengers back
26.04.10
easyJet had flown all of the 200,000 passengers stranded by the volcanic ash crisis home by yesterday evening, Travelmole reports. A spokesman fore the budget airline said it was an ‘enormous logistical exercise’.
Rescue flights were laid on and the airline even chartered aircraft in addition to running a full flying programme from last Wednesday - as soon as restrictions were lifted - and operating extra flights using its fleet. Sales were also suspended on ‘many routes’ to allow those stuck abroad to get priority . Special stand-by desks were also set up at airports to help stranded passengers get on the available flights.
But the airline said it could not ’exclude the possibility’ of a small number passengers still waiting for flights. These passengers were advised to email stillstranded@easyjet.com with their booking reference number and family name and they will be contacted to arrange a return flight.
