easyJet in-flight wedding plans blocked

easyJet will not be able to offer couples the chance to get married in-flight after Luton Borough Council rejected the plan. The budget applied for pilots to be authorised to officiate wedding ceremonies, but a council spokesman said the law did not allow a civil partnership or marriage to take place on an aircraft, they need to take place in a fixed structure.
An easyJet spokesman (who sounds like he could work for rival Ryanair) said: ‘We are very disappointed by this news. Faceless bureaucrats in windowless offices have scuppered the dreams of many.’
